Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Hey, there you’re Phenomenal, My name is Michelle Alexander I am the Founder and Managing director of AKA Life Coaching: Transformational life Coaching, Family support and Early intervention service for women. Welcome to November/ December words of wisdom. This month we will be talking about the importance and benefits of telling your story.

Humans have a remarkable capacity to bounce back after problems and are incredibly resilient. What is even more impressive, we might be missing out on people reaching their full potential by not telling our stories.

Approximately 70 per cent of what we learn is through stories which makes perfect sense. Think back to times when we may have been around a  camp fire telling stories with the community.

The brain is hard-wired for narrative so we can make sense of the world and our lives. Telling our story helps us to connect with our audience.

Over the past year i have been on a number of training programmes and webinars. What has become more and more evident is the important of telling your story. I have been luck enough to have meet many guest speakers that have successful business, Millionaires and billionaires and have been touched by their story walts and all.

It dawn on me that when people disclose their stories every things feel’s more achievable. Thank you to Natwest, Virgin, King college, The global institute for women leadership, Family magazine, Every women, Join what is the hype, Essex counselling, Wimmio social network, Real relevant right now, Ealing nub news, Strong mums, Au Amja Unabashedly, Jermaine Mc Leod, Edifying answers, information Collective, MTU Co, Childs play London, Friends and family for your support this year.

The benefits of tell YOUR story?

  1. Stories draw upon our universal fundamental need for connection.

  2. Your story is one of the most powerful ways of inspiring others. Your unique life story is one tool no one else has. Your individual experience of the world is the most valuable asset you possess there is only one you.

  3. With reports like Mc Kinsey and companies having a heavy focus on D and I , character and experience will start to trump credentials.

  4. Telling your story - with all its challenges, mistakes, failures, pain, setbacks as well as its joys, successes and victories - says something about what it means to be human. Telling your story can even inspire others to take the first step on their path to becoming a public speaker!

  5. Realizing that sharing your story can help others, Stories can be very healing and many people benefit from getting the opportunity to pass on their wisdom to others.

  6. Helps us Find our voice and make sense of our experience, events of our life and can make you realise how far you have come.

  7. Re-affirming your values. It can be a way to clarify what is important and reminder us of our priorities

  8. Finding peace, finding hope, reminds us of what you have achieved and how resilient you have been.

  9. Finding the Courage, Your story may influence, teach, and inspire. Your story can help people reflect on yours and their own learning. Many of our ancestors travelled to England, another country, experienced and or were sent to war, racism, poverty but they had a vision and hope and Courage.
